Should I get a wedding dress that covers my tattoo?
I have a tattoo of a cross on my back between the shoulder blades. My fiance’s family is rather conservative and doesn’t care for tattoos (he has one too). Should I get a dress that covers it or a shawl or jacket type thing that goes with the dress so I don’t offend anyone?
My tattoo is in black ink and it’s a very pretty cross. We’re getting married in a Catholic church…
It is SO up to you.
Be aware that some people will find it distasteful that you have your tattoo “on display”. Others will find the tattoo of a cross offencive, especially in church. Others will find the tattoo a genuine expression of your faith. Others will think of you as a modern woman with her own mind and values.
No matter what you do, the tattoo on your back will be visible to the entire congregation and it WILL be commented on.
It’s up to you whether you are comfortable with those comments (even if you don’t hear them) or if you prefer to avoid the matter entirely.
