black 13 tattoo

I need help with my tattoo idea… can you suggest something?

My black cat died on Friday the 13th of Feb 2004, I want to get a black cat tattoo with angel wings on Friday the 13th Feb 2009 (will be the 5 year anniversary). I’ve thought about getting this pretty much since he died, and haven’t changed my mind.

Since it’s getting closer to the time, I decided I should look for designs. I myself am not an artists, so I want to find a picture and get permission to use it.
I want a black cat with angel wings. He wasn’t a fluffy cat, and I don’t want much colour, so probably just using black/grey/white… but if there are tinges of other colours (especially like blue for the wings), then I will consider that.

Any ideas on where I can look for pictures like that? Thanks for your help.

it’s an open forum for artists of all media style and you can find pics of pretty much anything on there. It would be a good place to start, and they’re all pretty much original pieces. I would scope that site out and you can always message the artists too. Good Luck!

Free Hand vs. Stencil?

I love looking through people’s tattoos and on websites, and often it will say if a particular design was done by a freehand tattooist, but sometimes I’ve seen a few people be really smug about the fact that their tattoo was done by a freehander as opposed to ‘just some stencil artist’. I have two tattoos, both large custom designs and very intricate and I’m extremely happy with them, and these were done with the use of a stencil/transfer thing… why is it that some people consider themselves better for having freehand tattoos? I can see why the artist might boast as of course it’s an exceptional talent to be able to produce work like that freehand, but why the customer? I have no problem with admitting mine was done with a transfer on first… unless I knew I was going to one of the best in the country then tbh I’d probably prefer it that way, gives me more peace of mind that it won’t go wrong! So where does people’s smugness come from? I don’t get it!

Its because they think they got a beter artist than you. In reality most if not all artists will weigh up what is best in any given situation. Using a stencil is good practice at the end of the day.

Why are tattoos looked down on by the professional world?

They can be offensive to customers (for many reasons: mainly stereotyping people: looked at as trashy, gangs, mistakes, misconstrued as poor judgment. offensive symbols… etc….) and customers make you money in business…so to avoid conflicts of interest….tattoos are frowned upon or covered up in the business world!!!

What types of tattoos do couples usually get? without getting eachothers names?

I wnat to hear from people who have gotten matching tattoos with their significant other. Or if u know of people who have matching tatts. Lemme know thanks!

•Matching hearts.
•Matching paw prints.
•Eachother’s zodiac sign intertwined
•Eachother’s birthstone colours intertwined into a design
•Using your partner’s birthstone colour as the dominant colour of your tattoo.
•Matching Kanji Japenese symbols that say ‘love’ ‘companionship’ ’soulmate’ or whatever.
•Matching eternity knots.
•Matching ring tattoos.

i mean that i can print off and do stencils with. ive done image searches but cant really find anything. i want tribal, bid peices, stuff like that

Why do you want stencils? Are you planning on tattooing people? This sounds shady to me.

Do you think that its important to get a tattoo with a deep meaning, or just get one because you like tattoos?

I love tattoos, but dont have anyting particularly meaningful. At this point, if I got a tattoo the meaning behind it would be that I like tattoo art. Have you ever gotten a tattoo just out of liking them, without some deep meaning or representation behind it?

Some will swear by that your tattoo has to have meaning because it is for life. Try this on: if you get a tattoo because you think it is a cool image does this not have meaning? Yes. Does it represent a time in your life? Yes. Maybe even in a year from now your likes and dislikes may change and this will give your tattoo even more meaning or represent a time in your life when you were into certain genres of imagry.

So regardless of what anyone may say, EVERY TATTOO has some sort of direct or indirect meaning.

99% of the people who have tattoos or tattoo enthusiasts get work done of something JUST because they like the picture they saw. Many people even site in my chair and say, “Let your imagination run wild and do what ever you want.” Getting a tattoo is more about the experience really if you want my honest opinion and less about the imagery.

Tattoo Ideas please help.?

I turned 18 a couple weeks ago, and I am getting a tattoo in a couple months.

Interest: I play the violin and viola, I love music..mostly heavy metal. art, drawing, reading, im very religious, sports like cross country and track (discus and shotput), gymnastics, im a vegetarian, i love photography, flowers, birds, animals, im a huge animal lover…etc…
I want something unique but I cant picture it in my mind, I don’t have that huge of an imagination. I dont want hearts, or stars, or some stupid cartoon. I’m thinking on my wrist, foot, leg, or shoulder or even arm.

What are some good ideas?

First, do your homework; I cannot stress this enough. There is nothing worse than a person walking in to a tattoo parlor and picking the first tattoo they see off the wall.

Step
2 Think about it, what is something that means a lot to you? Perhaps an organization that your a part of, a sport you really like, or maybe something for your kids. You can get one of your mate, but keep in mind relationships are relative, tattoos are not.

3 Ask around, if you see someone with a really great tattoo, ask where he or she got it. Word of mouth is the best advertisement for a tattoo artist. Go to many different tattoo parlors and ask to see the artist’s work. They should have pictures of their past clients. Meet with the artist day or weeks before getting the tattoo. Talk to him and see if you can watch him tattoo someone else, but dont be surprised if they say no.

4 Ok, now that you have the tattoo and the artist picked out, set an appointment. Make sure that the tattoo artist has plenty of time for you and your tattoo. Sit down with the artist to go over the procedure for the tattoo. Do not get your tattoo drunk, this will likely make the tattoo artist upset, because you will bleed a lot more.

5So now that you have your tattoo, buy Tatto Goo. Follow the artist’s directions. Dont take the bandage off until he says its ok. Dont go swimming for at least a week. Keep applying the goo and keep your tattoo out of the sun for a while. And dont pick
