Taking Care Of Your Star Tattoos

Star Tattoos

Your new Star Tattoos have probably been covered with protective ointment and a bandage to allow your body to absorb the applied ointment, to lessen the discharge of blood or plasma, as well as protect your newly tattooed skin. It’s important that you leave your bandage undisturbed, for at least 6-8 hours, although it may be left on for up to 24 hours.

This means that you must NOT take your bandage off to look at or to show it to anyone until that time has passed. By removing the bandage you are effectively breaking a sealed cover, and any bleeding that is still occurring will begin to harden up and form more scabs over the surface of the tattoo.

The scabbing unfortunately causing the colouring to fade or wear a bit, and if you pull the scabs off too early it could leave scarring and will disfigure you tattoo in that area.

The best thing to do is lightly soak your bandage with warm water when removing it to prevent it from sticking to your skin.

Make sure to rinse and dry the area thoroughly. Clean your tattoo three times daily for the first few days, and there after you can do it twice a day for another week. You can then clean it once a day until it has fully healed.

Once you cleaned it, its a good idea to cover it with some kind of moisturiser. It’s not a good idea to let it dry-up completely as it will heal much faster. You should also be careful using certain products that can block up the pores of your skin.

If would like to take it a step further, you can try eating a nutritious diet or take a vitamin/mineral supplement to help your body speed up the healing process.

REMEMBER… most problems with healing are caused by:

-Taking off the bandage too early

- Incorrect ointments are used

-Soaking in a hot tub, swimming pool or bathtub in the early stages

-UV rays can also cause problems for you so find a friendly sun lotion

-Cleaning your tattoo incorrectly or not enough

You should also choose a tattoo studio with well-trained professionals that adhere to strict standards of sterile procedures, that way it gets done right the first time and you won’t any problems caused there.

However, as soon as you walk out the door, it’s going to be your responsibility to care for it properly! Follow the guidelines above carefully and your new star tattoo will heal in no time.
